Washington, D.C., March 14, 2011 – Today Rep. Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) along with pro-business Members of Congress, commended President Obama for forming the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness (Jobs Council) and urged the President to include the small business information technology industry on the newly created Jobs Council. The following statement can be attributed to Todd Thibodeaux, President and CEO of CompTIA.
“CompTIA applauds Rep. Loretta Sanchez’s unwavering support of the small business information technology (IT) industry. We commend Rep. Sanchez for calling on President Obama to include the small business IT industry on the newly created Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Small IT businesses drive creativity and innovation across the country and are a vital component of rebuilding our economy, creating jobs and maintaining U.S. competitiveness. Including these voices on the Council is a step in the right direction.
“There are tens of thousands of IT solution providers in the U.S. that play a vital role in providing the support for businesses to be more secure, more efficient and better run. They provide the flexibility to innovate and implement new technologies, such as those in the growing field of health IT.
“These small and medium IT firms are raising the productivity and efficiency of hundreds of thousands of other small businesses by providing managed services, break-fix, cloud computing and healthcare IT. The solution provider is also at the forefront of cyber security, helping to protect credit card and identity information for their clients and, in turn, for millions of those clients’ customers. Inclusion of a small IT representative on the Jobs Council is essential to provide a critical perspective to the work of the Council.”
